Amazing Salmon Patties Recipe

piece of raw salmonI love salmon so much. If I could, I would eat it several times a week. However, because of over-farming and other environmental issues, it has become cost prohibitive for our family.

I was looking for cheap sources of protein on the internet, and canned salmon was listed as a good source of protein. When I used to buy canned salmon, I would eat it directly from the can as part of a salad.  But because it is very strong and fishy smelling, I stopped buying it. I didn’t know back then what I do now. Ambitious to find a way to use canned salmon, I searched the web and found Salmon Patties. Along with my newly discovered Shake and Bake alternative recipe, it made for one of the most delicious meal I’ve had during the pandemic. It was a perfect balance of fish taste and smell and it was so juicy! I hope you enjoy!

Delicious Salmon Patties Recipe

If you normally don't like fish or canned fish, you will LOVE this recipe. The fishiness is brought down by the ingredients and extra seasonings to make fir a subtle yet satisfying fish dish.

  • 1 15 oz canned salmon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1.4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumb seasoning
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil


  • Drain the canned salmon.
  • Mix together all ingredients. If the patties are too dry, add water to help form patties.
  • In frying pan, heat vegetable oil to medium high heat. Fry patties until cooked through and browned on each side.
  • Serve warm, by itself or on bread or bun. Optional serve with tartar sauce.
