3-Day Cleanse

3-Day Cleanse

Today marks the first day of a three day cleanse for myself and my husband. I am excited to see if we can make it without having a problem, like dehydration. I take lithium, and so dehydration is a real scary thing while taking this medication. So hopefully I am diligent enough to stay hydrated while caring for a 5 month old. And it is a clear-liquid fast, and we have 0 calorie powerade, as well as broths and teas and coffee to tie us over. Right now, I have skipped breakfast. Considering that I ate a lost yesterday night, I am not surprised that the morning was easy.

The reason that we are doing it is for health reasons. I don’t like that I have developed sleap apnea. And he has it too. He also has a hernia and he needs surgery to fix it, and the doctors have asked him to lose some weight to make the surgery more successful. I am in the morbidly obese category basically, and so is Andrew. So we are doing this together. I think this is going to work, I think we are going to lose a lot of weight. Then we will be prepared to have baby #2.

I will be blogging about my journey regularly to keep updated. My goal is to help educate those who do not understand mental health struggles see how difficult some seemingly basic life routines are. Taking meds somehow slows your metabolism and makes it hard to stay at a good weight, and knowing that I have episodes every 3 years or so can be very difficult to find motivation, knowing that I’ll probably gain weight each episode.

But I am also blogging to help those who are like me in diagnosis see the ups and downs of the weight loss journey, and hopefully show that it is possible.
